Urban Birding

Today I deiced to have a try at some "urban birding" around London and some of the London parks. I started of a Victoria Park in bethnal green a favourite of mine. Unfortunately they were doing some works there so all the lake was dried out! Although there still was a small bit of water for the bids to bath in and for the coots and morhens to swim up and down in.

After that disappointment we went to St James Park. Ticking of a sparrowhawk on the bus going! We saw 3 ring-necked parakeets and song thrush. A little grebe on the lake. There were alot of captive birds there but I just ignored them. (The red crested pochards there did look rather striking!) There was a lot of tufted duck and pochard along with the heron sitting on the bank. A few young Mallard chicks with mum and dad and a great crested grebe on it nest. A rather good day apart form the dried up lake a Victoria park.
